Hey There! My name is Robyn Gemelle, a blerdy, daydreaming, late 20-something with a little obsession with books and a BIG aspiration of becoming an author of young adult and middle grade fiction.
I believe that becoming a bookworm was a bit of a setup. Whenever my mom brought a movie home she would always buy the corresponding book to go along with it. This forced me to have to pick up the book and follow along to see if it went together. In return, I forced her to read the same books to me over and over until I memorized them and could read them on my own. Thus my love affair with reading started and continues to grow hot like a burning, passionate flame. Don’t worry we got a room…
As far as my reading tastes now, I gravitate towards young adult titles in the fantasy and mystery genres but will also venture into the middle grade and new adult section for a good read. Aside from novels, I enjoy reading graphic novels, comic books, and collections of short fiction and poetry. Novels written in verse have a special place in my bookish heart — a heart that beats for you, Ellen Hopkins!
I created this space so that I can share my love of books and discuss bookish topics with other like-minded, bookwormy individuals who may share my little obsession for characters and the worlds they live in. What hero or heroine made you cringe so bad that you wanted to step in a take over their journey? What teenage trope are you sick of seeing in YA? What magical school, other than Hogwarts, would you love to attend? Lets talk about it!
In this space I will share my reviews of my current reads in young adult, new adult and middle grade fiction, poetry collections, graphic novels and book to film adaptations giving special attention to characters, themes and worlds. Being a psychology student, I am a very character-driven reader and I love to explore how characters interact with their internal and external worlds as they navigate their journeys. And as I mentioned above, I love to discuss book-related topics to anyone who will listen so discussion posts will be another major focus of this blog.
My current goals are to post three times a week — Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, as my schedule allows. I plan to post reviews on Mondays and discussion posts on Thursdays and Saturdays. In the future, I hope to host blog tours and collaborate with other book bloggers and bookstagrammers.
So WELCOME my friends and enjoy the ramblings of a character-obsessed book blerd and ya know, join in on the fun from time to time so I don’t feel like I’m rambling to myself…
